SGI - Basic Security Driver (BSD) Course

The Solutions Group International Basic Security Driver (BSD) course is designed for those who may find themselves assigned to drive protected persons as part of an executive security operation. Our BSD training course emphasizes both customer service and a proactive approach to protection. The BSD course curriculum is designed to give the student an overall understanding of the role of security driver, and to introduce the fundamentals of vehicle dynamics.

Course attendees will learn about route planning, vehicle security, vehicle dynamics, and complex arrival and departure situations (airports, hotels, etc) This is accomplished through classroom lecture, static exercises, and hours of “behind the wheel” training at a local driving track facility. This will include emergency braking, emergency backing, and swerve-to-avoid drills at moderate to slightly elevated speeds.

Students will learn how to prep and inspect a vehicle prior to passenger entry, as well as professional demeanor behind the wheel. We will emphasize the importance of being mentally prepared in order to be able to react. The training is brought together through realistic hands-on exercises where the student encounters different situations and is challenged to react.
