SGI - Wilderness Trauma Care Course

The SGI Wilderness Trauma Care [WTC-021] course is taught primarily at Bass Pro Shops and covers medical and rescue scenarios commonly encountered in remote areas. This is an intensive 4-hour course designed for those who participate in a variety of wilderness activities.
Medical course topics include:
- A Basic Introduction to Human Systems
- Patient Assessment and Care
- Wilderness trauma: bleeding, abdominal injuries, shock, fractures, sprains & strains, head injuries, spinal injuries, burns, chest injuries, wounds & dressings
- Common wilderness medical emergencies: seizures, sudden medical illnesses, diabetic emergencies, stroke, snake bites, eye injuries, insect bites & stings, environmental emergencies
- High Altitude Concerns
- Preparing Victims for Extraction
- Assembly of Wilderness First Aid / Trauma Kits
Additional course topics include:
- Dressing for Survival
- Water Purification
- Wilderness Nutrition and Food Protection
- First Aid Considerations for Pets (Dogs)
- Insects & Predators
- Rescue Gear
This course is an ideal introduction for hunters, shooters, gun range staff, SAR personnel, fisherman, scout leaders, parks and recreations employees, campers, day hikers, off-road enthusiasts, mountain bikers, and others who spend time in the great outdoors.
