SGI - Basic Trauma Care

The SGI - Basic First Aid & Trauma Care course is a one day program designed for individuals who desire First Aid, CPR, and AED certification as well as training in the immediate treatment of traumatic injuries such as Puncture and Gunshot Wounds. 

The topics covered in this dynamically paced ten hour class will advance the student's understanding of Basic Life Saving measures. This class will also expose students to the latest trauma care equipment and techniques available to civilian First Responders.

Each of our medical courses has direct oversight by our Medical Director, who is a practicing Emergency Medicine Physician and the head of Vascular Surgery for a large hospital in Southern California. Upon completion of the Basic First Aid & Trauma Care course, students will be certified in Adult and Pediatric First Aid/CPR/AED by the American Heart Association, and will possess the necessary skills and confidence to recognize, respond to, and treat a wide range of traumatic injuries. 

Students will also receive the coveted NAEMT Bleeding Control for the Injured (B-Con) certification.  Our Basic Trauma Care instructors are certified as trainers by the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians (NAEMT) , and are able to confer NAEMT certification on all students who successfully complete this course.

• Identifying Hazards and Ensuring Personal Safety
• Activating the EMS System
• Types of Trauma
• Providing Basic First Aid
• Providing Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
• Use and deployment of the Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
• Providing Basic Trauma Care
  
• Casualty Evacuation
• Non-Invasive Vital Sign Monitoring
• Hemorrhage Management (Tourniquets & Hemostatic Agents)
• Building a Comprehensive Trauma Kit
